Taking a basic, uninteresting basement and turning it into a “WOW” space and “TO GO” location was our task. At the bottom and on center of the Owner’s main staircase, we located the main entry door into the new theater. We highlighted it within a thickened birds-eye maple portal to provide drama and the sense of leaving the house and entering a new magical zone of the movies. Through a sound proofed espresso hued faux leather padded door, one enters the luxurious, dark space. The walls are lined with sound blanketed panels wrapped red fabric above a dark wood wainscot. We chose a plush carpet and installed custom theater seats; every part of this room was made to be comfortable.
Everything a movie goer would want is located just outside the entry door within a custom built birds-eye maple and stainless steel and glass wet bar. A leather finished black granite counter and a titanium mirrored backsplash complete the materials. On the opposite end of this hallway, we created stainless steel and glass display cabinets for the homeowner’s collection of guitars and other vintage items. We designed integrated lighting within the mirror-backed cabinetry so that all sides and backs could be viewed with the light.
